Understanding Genetic Results: Pharmacogenomic Testing
Pharmacogenomic testing may identify if some medications are more (or less) likely to work for you. It can also help your doctor choose ones that may cause fewer side effects.
That’s because we all process medications using instructions contained in our DNA. So if your body’s instructions are different from the average person’s, you may not process certain medications in the usual way—and they might not work as expected.
Your report will list more than 100 other commonly prescribed medications. For each, you will learn whether or not your body is able to process that medication as expected.
Here to help
No matter your results, it’s important to share them with your care team—and keep them handy in case you ever need emergency care. The Genomic Life navigation team is also available to help you understand your results and what they mean for current or future prescriptions. Our navigation team is just an email or a phone call away.
